03 · Take it to training

Build the reload before adding a play

About eight minutes before the scrimmage.

Step 01

Runner and half

One runner makes the touch and clears. The half arrives early, picks up cleanly, passes backward to the adjacent runner and follows.

Step 02

Three-touch rotation

M1, M2 and L1 rotate carrier, half and next runner for three touches without crossing or passing over one another.

Step 03

Keep the defence retreating

Add three defenders. The attack succeeds by preserving forward momentum and completing all three reloads before the line is comfortable.

Success = three straight carries, three clean rollballs and the same half connected to the next touch without the attack stopping or drifting sideways.
