A first session
What it's like
You arrive at Samorphrong a little before five. There's usually a small group warming up. Someone calls you over, asks your name, and helps you find a side. Thursdays are skills, drills and a game from 5–6:30pm. Saturdays are usually a full-hour match from 5–6pm. It is casual, but organised enough that new players can settle in quickly.
The basics
What to know
First session free
100 THB per person after that — straight to pitch hire.
Boots or trainers
Samorphrong is grass; both work. Bring water and clothes you can run in.
Bibs + balls provided
We bring bibs to split the sides, and the balls. Just bring water.
Mixed everything
Adults, beginners, experienced players, Thai and international players, men and women.
English + some Thai
Both are fine — you don't need to speak rugby to play it.
Message first if you can
We'll confirm the week's pitch details and help you find the group.
Questions
First-timers ask
- I've never played touch rugby
- Most people haven't on day one. We walk newcomers through the rules in the first ten minutes — there's no tackling, just a one-hand touch. You pick the rest up by playing.
- I'm coming alone
- That's how most people start. By session two you'll know names; by session four you'll be in the LINE chat arguing about pitch conditions like everyone else.
- I'm not very fit
- Touch is closer to repeated short runs than a collision sport. Set your own pace and sub off whenever you need a breather.
- Where exactly is Samorphrong?
- We post the pin in the LINE community on the day, in case the session shifts. Message us and we'll add you.
